That's pretty easy. We created a way for you to submit your cancellation online, so you save time and effort. Plus, it avoids delays on the mailing route, which usually needs to be taken with the German statutory notice period.
As simple as it is, there are three crucial points to consider from the start since the German statutory notice period counts for every rental contract:
- Your contract can only end on the last day of a month.
- The legal notice period is three months and only starts from the last day of a month.
- You need to contact our Support Team at least three days before the day your notice period should start. Please remember they are with their families, kids, and pets on the weekend - so they cannot process your inquiry during this time.
Upon your cancellation request, our lovely Support Team will send you a personalized link via email. Just click on the link and follow the instructions until the end, when an automated notice will be sent to our system on your behalf. Additionally, you will receive a confirmation, so you can be 100% sure everything worked out.
Please note that, in case you indicated a somehow limited stay when first getting in touch with us, this informal notification does not serve as a proper cancellation.
Here are two examples to illustrate the cancellation process by date:
|Example date 1||Example date 2||Step|
|28.07.20||05.08.20||a request for cancellation is sent to the Support Team|
|29.07.20||07.08.20||the request is replied to with a cancellation link|
|30.07.20||08.08.20||cancellation link is clicked on and followed until the notice was sent and confirmation was received|
|31.07.20||31.08.20||notice period starts|
|31.10.20||30.11.20||last day of contract/latest day to move out|
If any part of the cancellation process is not clear or uncertain to you, please make sure to contact our Support Team with your questions now, or in good time before your cancellation.
It’s in our best interest to make your leaving as hassle-free as your start with homefully.
